EPISODE 1
The invisible hope thread

Leah’s books were hidden, her lunch stolen, her desk vandalized.

“Look at her shoes.”
“Did she even bathe?”
“Poor rat.”

Said Angela, sharp-tongued and cruel in a way that felt effortless. She ruled the class like a queen, surrounded by girls who laughed at her jokes and obeyed her commands.

Soon whispers turned into open mockery.

Leah’s classmates came from wealthy families, children who arrives in sleek cars and carried phones worth more than her father earned in months.

Leah had always believed that suffering made people kinder.

She had watched her parents work themselves to exhaustion, her mother selling roasted corn by the roadside and her father repairing broken radios in a dimly lit shed.

They never complained.

They only smiled and told her that education would be her escape. So she studied harder than anyone else in her class, clinging to the fragile hope that someday, life would be different.

But hope was a dangerous thing in St. Anne’s secondary school, where she met her demise.

From the moment Leah stepped in to the grand compound, wearing a faded uniform and worn out shoes, she became a target.

Teachers noticed that Leah is shrinking into herself in class, during classes but assumed it was shyness. No one asked the questions that mattered.

Angela made sure of that.

Everyday, Leah carried invisible wounds home, hiding then behind forces smiles.

Her parents were already burdened by poverty, she could not add her pain to their struggles.

The only thread of hope—education Leah is holding unto is claiming her life gradually.
