THE CURSED TREE

The cursed tree

There was a village in the middle of nowhere. And in the village was a poor widow with a child. Her name is Matter. When her husband died, the husband’s family collected their only source of survival which was their farm.it become very difficult for Matter to feed herself and her son. Nobody helped her. However, there was a mmango tree in the village that bears fruit all year round. The woman and her son depended on this tree for food and money because she could go and pick the fruit and sell them for money. One day, the elders of the village announced that no one should eat from the mango tree because it had been dedicated to the gods of the land. Matter became deeply troubled. Not long, her son became sick. She went to beg the elders of the village to allow her to plunge some of the fruit to sell in other to be able to buy medicine and food for her child but they refused. The boy eventually died and out of pain, the woman cursed the tree that, anyone who eats from the mango tree should die just as his son died, and then killed herself. A lot of people died as a result of her curse, and no one has been able to eat from the tree till date, even with all its abundance.

Moral lessons: Give a helping hand to people in need.
