Episode 4 – The Last Goodbye
Weeks flew by in a blur of laughter, awkward moments, and long talks. Jessica spent nights with Sarah sharing secrets, afternoons teasing Ryan, and countless hours with Liam where unspoken words lingered between them. But her job in New York was waiting.
On her last night, Liam asked her to meet him at Miller’s Hill. “Stay, Jessica. We could start over,” he pleaded, his voice breaking.
Tears filled her eyes. “I love you, but if I stay, I’ll resent what I gave up. And if I go, I’ll miss you every day.”
Liam nodded slowly, fighting back tears. “Then promise me this wasn’t just a goodbye. Promise me it mattered.”
Jessica held his hand tightly. “It mattered more than anything.”
They shared one final kiss under the stars.
The next morning, as Jessica’s train pulled away, Sarah and Ryan waved. Mark stood in the distance, regret in his eyes. Liam wasn’t there, but Jessica didn’t need him to be. She already knew how he felt.
Pressing her forehead to the window, Jessica whispered, “This was our last summer.”
And though New York waited, part of her heart would always stay in Willow Creek.
Lesson:
This episode shows that love sometimes means letting go, not holding on. Jessica’s choice reminds us that following one’s dreams may come with sacrifice, but true love isn’t diminished by distance — it is honored by the memories, growth, and courage to choose the future while cherishing the past.
