EPISODE 2 – When Feelings Start Speaking
There was a school project in SS2. Our group had me, Daniel, Anita, and a new student named Samuel. For the first time, I got to see Daniel outside the classroom. We studied in the library, texted at night, and sometimes walked home together. Every moment with him made my world larger.
One evening, we went to his house to work on the project. His father, Mr. Joseph, welcomed me warmly and even prepared food for us. Daniel told me his mother died when he was 8. I saw the loneliness in his eyes… and something inside me wanted to protect him.
That night, Anita said, “Joy… I think you’re in love.” I tried to deny it, but my heart was louder than my words.
Then something strange happened.
During group study one day, Samuel whispered to me, “Joy, be careful with Daniel. Some people are not who they appear to be.”
I didn’t understand it then… but that sentence would trouble my mind for years.
Lesson Derived:
This episode teaches that emotions often speak before we are ready to listen, and first love can quietly grow through shared moments, care, and understanding. Joy’s feelings for Daniel show how compassion and closeness can deepen affection, especially when we see someone’s pain. However, the warning from Samuel reminds us that love should be balanced with wisdom and discernment. Not everyone is exactly who they appear to be, and it is important to listen to gentle cautions even when our hearts are deeply involved.
