EPISODE ONE: The Unlikely Choice
Every day was a fight Miranda Lugard endured in silence.
Miranda Lugard was all heart. She poured herself into caring for her struggling parents, carrying their burdens as if they were her own. Working as a secretary, she labored day after day, quietly putting her dreams and comforts aside, skipping meals so her parents wouldn’t have to go without.
Even though her pay as a secretary hardly covered her expenses, she managed to take care of her aging, struggling parents.
She had grown so used to being tired that she barely noticed it anymore, and hope felt like something meant for other people.
One afternoon, Miranda’s boss, Derrick, called her into his office and that’s when everything changed.
“Marry me”, He said.
Silence falls.
Her brows furrowed in confusion.
“I’m willing to give you $100,000, if you agree to marry me, it’s going to be just for 2 years” He said.
“What!?”
Her brows are still furrowed in confusion and she couldn’t help but voice out her thoughts.
“I don’t seem to understand you sir.” She asked.
He proposed a two-year contract marriage with no strings attached, offering $100,000, half upfront and the rest upon divorce.
It was something Miranda had never considered in her twenty-two years of life.
Miranda hesitated briefly, then nodded. Given her financial situation, refusing wasn’t really an option.
Although the arrangement eased her worries for the moment, she suspected Derrick had his own hidden agenda.
