The Hollow Lands were unstable.
Time felt uneven. Ruins appeared where maps showed roads. Sounds echoed without sources.
“This place reacts,” Thorne said. “To what we’re thinking.”
On the Path of Memory, Caelum relived the night Aurethia disappeared.
“I should have stayed,” he said.
“And died?” Lysa asked. “That wouldn’t have saved anyone.”
The Path of Truth exposed what the kingdom had hidden.
“So Aurethia was protected by a lie,” Caelum said.
“By a choice,” Maera corrected. “And now you must answer for it.”
At the final threshold, the cost became clear.
“If you restore Aurethia,” Maera said, “you won’t rule it alone.”
Caelum nodded. “Good.”
The Veil opened.

Avoiding the truth does not protect us; it only delays accountability. Aurethia was preserved for years by a decision that ignored balance, but the cost eventually came due. Restoration required facing painful memories, accepting responsibility, and choosing what was right over what was comfortable.
Caelum learned that leadership is not about holding power alone, but about being willing to share responsibility and submit to correction. True restoration begins when we stop defending past choices and start answering for them honestly.
