EPISODE 1 – Blackouts

Rita Daniels was a nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cape Town — the kind of nurse every patient loved. She was gentle, patient, and often stayed beyond her shift to comfort the sick. Her closest friends were Angela, a lively nurse with a loud laugh, and Daniel, a flirtatious paramedic who always brought her coffee during late shifts. Her brother Mathew checked on her every weekend.

But for the past two weeks, Rita’s life had taken a disturbing turn.

It began on a Tuesday night. She finished her shift, took the bus home, and walked up to her apartment door. She remembered fitting her key in the lock. The next moment, she was in her kitchen, holding a half-empty glass of water. Two hours had vanished from her memory.

The next morning, the TV in her living room reported:

“Man attacked outside a convenience store late last night. Suspect: tall woman, dark hair, early thirties.”

Rita froze. The assault happened just two streets from her apartment, at the exact time she couldn’t account for.

Angela noticed her pale face at work.
“Rita, you look sick. What’s wrong?”
“Just tired,” Rita muttered.
Angela frowned. “Promise me you’re resting.”

But rest was the last thing Rita could think about.

Lesson: Ignoring Unexplained Problems Can Lead to Greater Trouble

Episode 1, Blackouts, shows us that when something unusual or disturbing happens in our lives, especially something we cannot explain. it is important to confront it rather than ignore it. Rita’s strange memory gaps and the suspicious events around her suggest that denial or pretending nothing is wrong can allow problems to grow more dangerous. The lesson is clear: pay attention to warning signs, seek help when something feels wrong, and never dismiss your instincts when they tell you something isn’t right.
